Colonia del Sacramento was founded in 1680, by Portuguese Admiral Manuel Lobo, who settled on the northern coast of the Rio de la Plata. A typical Portuguese city of the XVII century which still today charms tourists from all over the world with its well-preserved architectural richness.
The pretty layout of Colonia, of Portuguese character, makes a remarkable contrast with the architectural mapping shared by all cities of Spanish origin. It is precisely for its particular architecture that it has been declared World Historical Heritage.
Getting lost in its historical narrow streets, paved with wedge stones, going up the lighthouse staircase, visiting its churches, its various museums and ancient houses are some activities enjoyed by tourists during their stay in the city.

I was in Uruguay only very briefly, so no, I didn’t meet any other Americans. Uruguay is a bit exvpnsiee one of the more exvpnsiee South American countries. There were a few times I was surprised at how much something cost.
